The head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) has issued a stark warning about the potential consequences of ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the global community should be deeply concerned if the situation fails to improve within the coming weeks. The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage between Iran and Oman, represents one of the world’s most strategically important chokepoints for global energy transportation. Approximately 20-21 million barrels of oil pass through this 21-mile-wide strait daily, accounting for roughly 20 percent of global oil consumption.
